Gillian Flynn’s Sharp Objects adaptation has found its lead!
Entertainment Weekly reports that five-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams will star as Camille Preaker in Flynn’s psychological thriller.
Published in 2006 as Flynn’s debut novel, Sharp Objects tells the story of Camille Preaker, a reporter who is fresh off a stint in a psych hospital when she’s assigned to cover the murders of two preteen girls in her hometown. As you would expect from the Gone Girl author, it’s filled with menacing characters and unexpected twists.
While Flynn’s Gone Girl and Dark Places were both made into feature films, Sharp Objects will be adapted for TV as a serialized drama. It’s currently being shopped to cable and streaming networks, so there’s no word yet on a premiere date.
Showrunner Marti Noxon — known for her success with Lifetime’s UnREAL series — will pen the pilot. And good news for Flynn fans: There are reports that the author will write some of the episodes as well.
If it ends up being anything like the book, we can bet the series will have us hooked to its twists and turns.
