Pottermore released an exciting announcement about the forthcoming Fantastic Beasts sequel cast! In addition to the original stars — including Johnny Depp as Grindelwald and recently-cast Jude Law as Dumbledore — Potterheads can expect some fresh faces in the second installment.
Brontis Jodorowsky joins the cast as Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist who discovered the Elixir of Life. Flamel was first mentioned in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and is based on a real alchemist by the same name.

Additionally, two actors have been cast to play characters with last names that may sound familiar to Potterheads. Derek Riddell will play Torquil Travers and Poppy Corby-Tuech will play Rosier, the surnames of two Death Eaters who served Lord Voldemort. Most notably, the Rosier name is connected to the Black and Lestrange families, which leads to speculation about these new characters’ relationship to Voldemort, as well as to the mysterious Leta Lestrange. Zoë Kravitz (Big Little Lies) returns as Lestrange, a character from Newt’s past who appeared in a moving photograph in his workshop in the first installment.
Callum Turner will play Newt’s war hero brother Theseus Scamander, who was mentioned in the first Fantastic Beasts film. Jessica Williams (The Daily Show) and Fiona Glascott (Resident Evil) will also appear in the new film, but their their roles haven’t yet been announced. Other new cast members include Wolf Roth as a character named Spielman, Victoria Yeates (Call of the Midwife) as Bunty, and Cornell S. John as Arnold Guzman.

The second film will follow Newt and a young Dumbledore (Jude Law) as they take on the dark wizard Grindelwald (Johnny Depp). The original stars will also return, including Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, and Carmen Ejogo as Seraphina Picquery.
As with the previous film, J.K. Rowling has written the script for the next installment in the five-film franchise. The sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits theaters November 16, 2018.
