Get ready, E L James fans: A new Fifty Shades book will be hitting shelves in November! That’s right — Darker: Fifty Shades Darker as Told by Christian will cover the events of the original novel, Fifty Shades Darker, as told from Christian Grey’s perspective. Check out the cover below:
This new Fifty Shades book is the sequel to 2015’s Grey, the first book in the bestselling series as seen through Christian’s eyes. James promises that this new book will be even darker and more complex than Grey. In a statement, James said:
“The inside of Christian Grey’s head is a fascinating place to be… In Grey we got the first glimpse of what makes Christian tick, but in Darker we go deeper, into his most painful memories and the encounters that made him the damaged, demanding man Ana falls in love with.”
Darker has been rumored to be coming out since last year, when James shared an excerpt of the novel on Facebook, sending fans into a fury of speculation. In the teaser, Christian waits outside Ana’s job at Seattle Independent Publishing, thinking of how much he misses her and wants to win her back (though it’s unclear if the excerpt made it into the final book):
“Will she have missed me? Will she want me back? Is there someone else?”… “I want her back.”
Fans of the original Fifty Shades trilogy will be thrilled to have a novel to keep them busy until the February premiere of the third movie adaptation, Fifty Shades Freed. Plus, with the second Grey book coming out, it also seems more likely that James will write a third book covering the trilogy’s conclusion from Christian’s point of view.
Darker: Fifty Shades Darker as Told by Christian will be released on November 28.
