If you’re a book clubber looking for a fun movie to see with your friends next year, you’ll want to check out the Book Club movie. Set in California, the film focuses on a book club that makes a risqué reading choice — changing their lives in amazing ways. Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming Book Club movie, including the cast, plot details, and release date.

1. The movie is about — what else? — a book club!

Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James

Deadline describes Book Club as a “heartfelt comedy” following four women in their 60s who decide to choose a book club novel out of their comfort zone — Fifty Shades of Grey. Deadline continues:

“For these successful and intelligent women, this is not the type of book that they typically read, but as they soon find out, inspiration can come in the most unlikely of places.”

2. The film stars four incredible lead actresses.

Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton, and Candice Bergen signed on to Book Club in May, and then in July, Mary Steenbergen joined the project as the final lead role. These four actresses have earned awards and acclaim throughout their careers, making for an all-star cast. Fonda, who won Oscars for Coming Home and Klute, is currently starring in the Netflix series Grace and Frankie. Keaton, who won an Oscar for her role in Annie Hall, is also known for acting in comedies like Something’s Gotta Give and Father of the Bride. Bergen is well-known for her Emmy-winning role in Murphy Brown. Last but not least, Steenbergen, currently on The Last Man on Earth, had a recent role on Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black.

3. The cast is rounded out with amazing comedy actors.

Beyond the leading ladies, Book Club has an impressive cast list. Supporting actors including Don Johnson, Craig T. Nelson, Alicia Silverstone, Richard Dreyfuss, Ed Begley Jr., Wallace Shawn, Andy Garcia, and Kate Aselton. Johnson, Dreyfuss, Shawn, Nelson, and Begley Jr. serve as the love interests of the women in the film, and Silverstone will play one of the daughters of Diane Keaton’s character.

Holderman is known as a producer for such films as A Walk in the Woods and All Is Lost, but Book Club will mark his directional debut. He co-wrote the script with Erin Simms, who was also on the crew of A Walk in the Woods. The two are producing alongside June Pictures.

5. The Book Club movie is set to premiere in 2018.

According to IMDB, Book Club is in “post-production” and will hit theaters some time in 2018. An official date has not yet been set. In the meantime, perhaps this film will inspire you to take risks in your own book club!
